A Joint Commission Accredited Treatment Facility
Deciding who to trust with your future is no easy task. When researching your options, you will likely feel overwhelmed by the endless number of addiction treatment facilities. Fortunately, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) makes this process easier.
JCAHO is a not-for-profit organization that evaluates health care providers to accredit only those that meet the highest standards of care. It’s a standard that Pacific Shores Recovery is proud to meet, and it means that our clients can trust we have been approved by an organization dedicated to excellence in our field.
What is the Joint Commission?
The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. JCAHO’s evaluations help improve public health by raising the standards of organizations that seek its stamp of approval. It is governed by representatives of several individuals and organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Hospital Association and the American Medical Association.
Why Accreditation by the Joint Commission Matters
TThere are many treatment facilities offering to help people suffering with addictions. However, not all meet JCAHO’s standards. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ is only awarded to organizations that undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least once every three years.
When you see that an organization has received this accreditation, you know that it has not only met the standards of JCAHO, but that it has consistently maintained the quality of its services. Joint Commission accreditation means that a facility has been reviewed for
- Patient safety,
- Patient care,
- Ethics,
- Staff credentialing,
- Leadership,
- Evidence-based outcomes,
- Consumer rights,
- Environment of care,
- Employee background checks,
- Medication safety,
- Case management, and
- Continuing education.
These are just some of the criteria that the organization evaluates when accrediting an organization. Knowing that a treatment provider meets these standards is invaluable when determining who to trust with your future or your loved one’s care.
