Therapies for Relapse Prevention & Long-Term Recovery
Relapse is a natural concern during and after the recovery process, and clients must be proactive to avoid relapse triggers, drug or alcohol cravings and sobriety pitfalls. Pacific Shores Recovery teaches clients to identify their individual triggers – including places, people and events that remind them of using or drinking. During your inpatient or outpatient program, you will work with counselors to develop alternative ways to spend free-time, navigate old friendships, deal with uncomfortable feelings and protect sobriety in the face of triggers and cravings.
Therapies for Relapse Prevention
Offering evidence-based treatment and holistic modalities for the physical and emotional symptoms that accompany substance misuse, Pacific Shores is proud to provide:
- Individual counseling. Your counselor’s focus is solely on you during one-on-one treatment sessions. During this time, you have the unique opportunity to share transparently and develop an individualized recovery plan. Use your sessions to discuss issues you are not comfortable sharing or working on during group therapy.
- Group counseling. Gender-specific process groups provide a forum for discussion and an opportunity for fellowship and camaraderie. During group counseling, Pacific Shores’ clients break out of isolation to experience healing and develop sober relationships. Groups also provide the opportunity to receive honest feedback and genuine peer support.
- Experiential therapy through art. Pacific Shores art therapy participants make their own jewelry or create Higher Power boxes in which to place their hopes, dreams and wishes. We also offer flower therapy, which allows participants to create meaningful arrangements that freshen the recovery space while bringing joy, serenity and happiness to the artist.
- Experiential therapy through writing. Journaling or writing is cathartic and therapeutic. As clients put words to paper by sharing their life stories, drug use, emotions or sober motivation, it becomes easier to sort through deep feelings of hurt, anger or despair.
- Fitness & recreation. Our Newport Beach facility is equipped with a gym, and residents also have part-time access to a nearby 24-Hour Fitness center. Exercise helps recovering addicts heal physically, emotionally and mentally while providing a constructive sobriety activity.
- Yoga & meditation. Mastering the mind-body connection is key to recovery success. Pacific Shores offers meditation and yoga experiences designed to manage stress, create a work-life balance and help clients transition from self-focus to Higher-Power focus. We practice meditation each morning, and yoga classes are offered throughout the week.
