Dr. Mike Kelly, DNP

Psychiatric Director

Dr. Mike Kelly, DNP is a board certified psychiatric DNP, completing his education at the University of Long Beach, and Chapman University. Dr. Kelly has over 20 years of psychiatric clinical experience, providing general psychiatric and addiction medicine services. Specialty areas include: private clinic, acute inpatient psychiatry, assisted living, partial hospitalization, residential detoxification, and sober living psychiatric consultation with MAT.  Dr. Kelly holds an affiliation with hospital based settings, providing acute in-patient & out-patient psychiatry, emergency room psychiatric triage, and psychiatric consultations.

Brad Kingma

Clinical Supervisor

Brad Kingma is the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Supervisor. He received his B.S. in Psychology and Business Administration from Illinois State University, and his M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. He also has an MBA from Pepperdine University. Brad has worked extensively with those struggling in their addiction and needing to reconnect with purpose and hope for their lives. Brad has worked in Rehabilitation Treatment Centers; with individual and family therapy, dual diagnosis, and with the chronically mentally ill in a variety of settings.

Brad brings his expansive knowledge and experience in the mental health field to his practice as a primary therapist at Pacific Shores. Brad specializes in applying a spiritual orientation to his therapy that offers clients both the hope and the power to overcome their addiction and personal hang ups and problems. He has found that using Object relations, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are powerful therapeutic tools in his therapy.  Clients repeatedly share their breakthroughs with family as reaching a level of growth they had yet to ever receive after only a few short sessions with Brad during their time in our program. He is known for helping clients heal at a core level both in his group therapy sessions, as well as his 1 on 1’s.

Shelley Dyvig
Admissions Director

Shelley Dyvig is the Admissions Director and is the first person clients meet when entering the program.  After working in the real estate industry for 20 years, Shelley switched careers in order to fulfill her desire to help those recover.  She interacts with clients during the course of treatment, taking personal satisfaction in hearing about their progress. Shelley cites the core values of the company as its strengths.

Marketing Director

Laura has been working in the field of addiction for the last four years and has worked in various administrative roles.

She began her career working with women struggling with addiction and other co-occurring issues. As Marketing Director, Laura has committed to advancing Pacific Shores Recovery's life-saving mission and to working with the community to make sure the organization is as strong and viable as it can be. Laura has an intimate understanding of the challenges clients face as they put their lives back together.

Jerry Larabell
Lead Case Manager, Intervention Specialist, and Master Trainer

Jerry Larabell is the Program Supervisor and with decades of experience in addiction, has quickly become the “go-to” person that helps clients work through even the most difficult of struggles.  From running groups, case management sessions, and impromptu sessions with clients, he is continually the backbone behind the program and is able to help clients when they’re most vulnerable to reverting back to old behaviors.  Client’s often share of how amazing his approach is to genuinely understand what they’re going through in order to help make those healthy decisions. Jerry remains highly active in the addiction community and has found his calling getting to work daily with clients to help see life in a different light.

Mark Manderson

Mark Manderson (better known as Jr.), oversees the day to day operational aspect of Pacific Shores.  Mark holds a B.S. in International Business with a minor in finance. Mark earned his business degree while studying abroad at Cambridge University in the U.K. and received is Bachelors from Cal State Long Beach.  He also holds multiple certifications in Strategic Intervention, Hypnotherapy, and other niche fields within the addiction community. Mark’s life purpose is to help create an environment that heals the soul at a core level and found his home at Pacific Shores in 2004. “My favorite part of Pacific Shores is getting to hear the stories of how well our clients do once they move on to the next season of their life.  It’s amazing seeing the continual impact of so many families in our community.” He can be found interacting with every client to ensure their maximum growth while at Pacific Shores.

Jon Calkins
House Coordinator/BHT

Helping clients transform their lives for the better gives Jon purpose and joy in life. Jon enjoys openly sharing about his personal journey of overcoming addiction. A California native, Jon has lived in Newport Beach since he was six years old. Jon is a pillar of the recovery community and has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1995. Jon brings a strong, faith-based approach to addiction treatment and his personal recovery story makes him a tenured and invaluable asset to Pacific Shores Recovery. Jon resides on-location as the Men’s House Coordinator and is a staff member the male clients in particular can rely on for guidance and wisdom as they adjust to a new and better life.

Ken Gober
Support Staff/BHT

Ken is extremely passionate about personal growth and continually expresses a desire to make positive changes in client’s lives. He is a local from Santa Ana, California. Kenassists to ensure program operations run smoothly. Ken has his own personal experience of addiction met with years of sobriety, which influences his drive and compassion to help others who are still struggling. Ken finds serenity and humility in helping others gain new attitudes and change their perspectives about life after persevering through challenging experiences. Ken is a Las Vegas Raiders fan and loves going fishing and driving his Dodge Charger in his free time.

Timothy Thorne

Clinical Support

Timothy Thorne is a clinical support behavioral health technician at Pacific Shores. He enjoys facilitating groups and activities and working with clients in all phases of their recovery. From welcoming and orienting new clients to assisting wherever he is needed in the facility, you will rarely see this guy sitting down. He is very motivated, and passionate about his professional goals. Tim is a team player who will go out of his way to assist co-workers and shows everyday that he is dedicated to the Pacific Shores mission and values.

Adriana Alvarez

Case Manager

Adriana has a CADC II certification and has been working in the treatment field for 8 years and providing case management and facilitator services for the past 6 years. Adriana’s passion is to help others to overcome obstacles by instilling hope and planting the seeds of recovery. She believes that at the end of the day, if she can help at least one human being by lifting their spirit and instilling hope, then she can end the day fulfilled.
